Essentials to pack for your ATV or SxS Off-Road Adventures

Dustin Jones’s ATV trail riding survival kit

Our Can-Am Ambassador Dustin Jones has years of off-road riding under his helmet. His vast experience has taught him what must-have ATV accessories to bring along when hitting the trails! Dustin says never go 'full send' without these essentials.

Water and snacks

This might seem basic, but it's essential for a day outdoors. You’re going to work up a sweat, so always carry extra water and stay hydrated. Plus you’ll need more body fuel to keep up with all the excitement!

Spare drive belt

No ATV trail riding survival kit should be without this. Plus, it takes up very little space so there’s no excuse. It may just save you or a friend in need.

Can-Am battery pack

Bring along a modern, compact battery jump starter. Not only does this must-have ATV & SxS accessory restart your Can-Am, it also charges USB devices and supplies backup power to battery-powered devices.

Tire plug kit and air compressor

Tire plugs are a simple and effective way to fix a flat tire in a jam—and they’re convenient, compact and cheap. Sometimes all you need is a patch and some air to make it back home. On longer tours or in remote areas, it’s really smart to also have an air compressor. (FYI: our Emergency Kit comes with an air compressor!)

Two rope

Getting stuck in the mud is no fun—but not having a rope or winch to bail you out is even worse! Get recovery ropes that match your riding style from an off-road supplier. And don’t forget this ATV essential: never use ratchet straps as a recovery or tow rope.

LinQ Toolkit

You should always be prepared to make minor off-road repairs. That’s why the official LinQ toolkit is an SxS / ATV trail riding essential. It locks in place on your ATV and is perfect for quick fixes on the trails.

First aid/emergency kit

Just in case someone gets hurt, you'll have all the necessary items with you. Also consider packing fire starters, a flashlight, extra batteries, a splint, a tourniquet, and even insulin in your first aid kit—you never know whose life good preparation can save.
