The only South Africans racing in the side-by-side class, Geoff Minnitt (ZAF) and Siegried Rousseau (ZAF) racing under South Racing Can-Am, unfortunately came 47th in the side-by-side class at stage 6.
Gerard Farrés (ESP) is tackling his 15th Dakar this year. The Spaniard, who was runner-up in the SSV category in 2019 and won three stages in 2020, tasted victory yesterday, thanks to the penalty handed out to Aron Domzala (POL) after the finish. As a result, the driver from the iberian Peninsula is opening the way on the SSV special ahead of Domzala and another Pole Marek Goczal.
