Billed as the new industry benchmark for high-performance watercraft, the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 had the speed hungry adrenaline junkies salivating. Boasting an impressive array of race-ready specs and rider-inspired features it earned immediate praise from the media and industry insiders. The only question left: Would those claims and impressions hold up on the water?
Sea-Doo performance ambassador Erminio Iantosca emphatically proved them true as he piloted the 2021 RXP-X 300 to a World Championship of the Pro-Am Box Stock class of the Pro Watercross World Championships held in his hometown of Naples, Fla., Oct. 29-Nov. 1, 2020.
The logical testing ground for the latest iteration of the RXP-X 300 is the buoy course. Afterall, it is one of the few truly race-ready watercraft out of the box in the market. But for the true high-performance enthusiast, such as Iantosca and fellow Sea-Doo ambassador Anthony Radetic, the Sea-Doo Life is lived well beyond the racecourse. From Design to Dominance
Iantosca is one of those who craves that acceleration rush the new RXP-X provides. Given his background in watercraft racing, expertise in the needs and desires of performance riders, and passion for the Sea-Doo Life, he was the ideal candidate to offer feedback to BRP engineer and design teams when the next generation of the RXP-X started to take shape.
There were a number of areas Iantosca homed in on during his discussions with Sea-Doo product teams.
“I wanted to see the new RXP-X sweep around corners better and stay hooked up in rough conditions,” said Iantosca. “I wanted the Ergo R seat with adjustable saddle to really lock in and hold onto that big Rotax power,” he added.
But did they listen?
“Let me tell you,” he said, “they hit it out of the park. The shark gills design the new seat and also the weight reduction – this RXP-X is the best watercraft I have ever ridden.”
Describing that first throttle squeeze off the line, used the emotion many have echoed about the 2021 RXP-X.
“I was speechless,” said Iantosca. “I couldn’t wipe that huge smile off my face,” he added.
Radetic doubled down on those statements.
“The initial squeeze of the throttle on the new RXP-X off the line is probably what the human cannonball experiences when getting shout out of a cannon, said Radetic. “The power is surprisingly constant throughout the entire power band,” he added.
Beyond the Buoys
The high-thrill lifestyle goes far beyond race weekends for both ambassadors. Both crave that same adrenaline rush delivered courtesy of the RXP-X 300 whenever they hit the water. Making this watercraft one suitable for their lifestyle – not just race weekends – was the target for the RXP-X.
